Introduction
(Note: the following information was provided by the Country Coordinator for Indonesia)
While Indonesia has no nuclear power program, they do produce radioisotopes for nuclear applications, regulated by the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (NERA). Indonesia maintains and operates several research reactors for this purpose. Spent fuel is repatriated back the the United States of America for disposal.
Since Indonesia is not operating any NPP, program on fuel cycle and waste management is focused to that related to research reactor and industry used nuclear source. There are a facility for production and experiment of research reactor fuel element, and a facility for production and experiment of nuclear power plant fuel element. There is also an installation to manage nuclear waste.
